Margaret L. Harris, 97, of Iowa City, former longtime resident of Coralville, died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a time of visitation from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Margaret’s memory to Coralville United Methodist Church or Iowa City Hospice. Margaret L. Harsh was born Aug. 24, 1925, in New Virginia, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert and Helen (Wilke) Harsh. Margaret married J. Doyle Harris on Dec. 17, 1944. Margaret worked for ACT for many years in addition to taking care of her family. She was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society and Knee Knockers.
Her family includes her children, Sue Byers, Janene Seemuth (Steve) and Richard Harris (Naomi); eight grandchildren, Troy Byers (Roma), Kim Rosenberg (Shane), Scott Seemuth (Heather), Brad Seemuth, Brittany Kester (Kayleb), Olivia Weikart (Luke), Hailee Harris (fiancé Max) and Chad Harris (Kara); 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew Tolan (Leslie), Trevor Byers, Mackenzie Byers, Jackson Rosenberg, Harrison Rosenberg, Owen Rosenberg, Keira Rosenberg, Laurel Seemuth, Asher Seemuth, Sawyer Kester, Evie Kester and Finley Weikart; and one great-great-granddaughter, Sally Tolan.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; son-in-law, Ed Byers; brother, James Harsh; and sister, Guyla Patrick.
