Madelyn “Lynn” Smith

Madelyn “Lynn” Smith, 82, of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Lynn was born in Birmingham, AL on January 25, 1939, to the late Clifford and Lorene Rollins Henson. Lynn was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Harold Ned Smith.
Lynn also formerly resided in Florence, KY and Albany, KY, before retiring to Hendersonville. Lynn attended business college. She was employed as a medical assistant before finally starting her own business in daycare owning and operating The Gingerbread House. Lynn was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. When Lynn was not attending church activities or working at her daycare business, she volunteered for the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Lynn is survived by her daughters, Robyn Luttrell (Joey) of Hendersonville, NC and Paula Susan Fortner (Bob) of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Ben Luttrell (Leigh Ann), Katy Stafford (Scott), Shane Fortner (Jessica), and Michelle Fortner; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Stafford, Kelcey Luttrell, Mackenzy Stafford, Brody Luttrell, Daisy Stafford, Barrett Luttrell, Joey Stafford, Margot Fortner, Poppy Fortner, and Jared Allen; brothers, Jim Henson (Betty) from Starksville, MS; nieces, Tracie Henry (Mark) and Teri Henson; nephew, Bart Henson (Tracy); and great-nieces, Courtney Henry, Shelli Scott (Cam) and Opal Lane Scott.
Friends will be received for a memorial visitation at the First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC on January 22, 2022, at 10AM with the memorial service to follow at 11AM with Pastor Steve Scoggins officiating. The inurnment will take place at Lands Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Albany, KY at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s memory to Four Seasons Hospice.
