MacArthur “Mac” Fragier

MacArthur “Mac” Fragier, 77, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born July 5, 1945, in Inverness, MS, the son of Jesse, Sr. and Theresa Lee (Fragier) White. He married Lorean “Lori” Sain on March 14, 2000.

Mac is survived by his wife of 23 years; seven children: Bonnie Green of Springfield, Dr. Michelle Fragier of Shiloh, Dr. Marsha (Lowa) Mwilambwe of Mahomet, Kimberly (Robert) Sylvester of Springfield, Perry (Christy) Johnson of Chino Hills, CA, Phillip (Michelle) Johnson of Springfield, and Corey Baker of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; six sisters, Barbara (Chardester) Simmons of Springfield, Delores White of Indianola, MS, Virginia Gregory of Indianola, MS, Linda Harrison of Houston, TX, Georgia (Marvin) Sanders of Houston, TX, and Norma (David) Hale of Dallas, TX; two aunts, Kathy Williams and Jacqueline White; uncle, OC Fragier; and several other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Mya Johnson and Kionna Banks; grandson, Aaron Johnson; two brothers, Jesse White, Jr. and John White; and sister, Edna White.

Mac was a resident of Springfield since 1951 and graduated from Feitshans High School in 1964. He was a Mason at the Masonic Temple Central Lodge #3 and a member of Kamar Temple #56 for over 50 years. Mac worked at AT&T as plant manager for 30 years and later owned and operated Mac’s Lounge for 38 years.

Mac was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Panther Creek Country Club. He loved biking on the Rochester Trail and a good game of chess.

Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Friday, March 31, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A Masonic service will follow at 12:15 pm.

Funeral Service:  12:45 pm, Friday, March 31, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Robert Freeman officiating.

Following services, please join Mac’s family for a reception at Mac’s Lounge, 1231 East Cook Street Springfield, IL.
