Lucy Ann “Susie” Snowden

Lucy Ann “Susie” Snowden, 80, of Chatham, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Sunrise Manor in Virden. She was born on August 6, 1941, in Springfield, the daughter of Louis Marion and Jessie Mae (Gum) Ekis. She married Fred H. Snowden on January 3, 1984 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2016.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, John Fredrick Lawson, Jr.; one sister; and two half-brothers.

Survivors include her son, Vincent Michael “Mike” (Catherine) Lawson of Chatham; five grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Jessica, Jordan, and Elijah Lawson; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Rosie and Brooklyn Lawson, and Jojo McElroy; and a few nieces, nephews and cousins.

Susie was of the Catholic faith. She was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She loved traveling with her husband to various destinations such as Europe and cruises to Alaska. She also enjoyed her time in Hawaii with her son. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.

Susie was a case worker for the State of Illinois Public Aid and retired after 32 years of service.

A private graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Reverend Allen Kemme officiating.
