Lois R. Stangland, age 95 of Sugar Grove, IL passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 25, 2021. She was born on January 6, 1926 in Newark, IL the daughter of Benjamin and Sadie (Weeks) Devick.
Lois was united in marriage on February 1, 1947 at the Helmar Lutheran Church in Newark, IL to Mr. Gerald Stangland and they spent the next 70 years happily together until his passing on February 23, 2017. Mrs. Stangland was a lifelong and active member of the Helmar Lutheran Church. Lois was a 1944 graduate of Newark High School in Newark, IL. She was employed, until her retirement, as an Administrative Assistant with Caterpillar, Inc. in Montgomery, IL. Lois loved music, both playing the piano and singing with her friends with the Sweet Adelines. She also enjoyed gardening, especially growing lovely flowers. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children, David (Deborah) Stangland of Sugar Grove, IL and Nancy (Glenn) Stallings of Sugar Grove, IL; her five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Sadie Devick; her husband, Gerald Stangland; also her siblings, Curtis Devick, Russell Devick and Bernice Behrens.
A private family Funeral Service will be held in the Helmar Lutheran Church in Newark, IL. Interment, next to her husband, will follow in the Helmar Cemetery in Newark, IL.
