Lois Evelyn Livingstone Wild
Anamosa
Lois Evelyn Livingstone Wild, 98, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed peacefully into Heaven on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Pinicon Senior Living and Memory Care in Anamosa, Iowa. Friends are welcome to a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Viola United Methodist Church, located at 221 Center Street in Viola, Iowa. Interment will follow at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola, Iowa, that Lois and her husband, Jim, lovingly maintained for decades.
Lois was born on June 30, 1925, in Jones County, Iowa, the second of three daughters of Robert C. Livingstone and Evelyn Sutliff Livingstone. The young family soon relocated from rural Center Junction to rural Anamosa where Lois enjoyed 4H and vocal music, then graduated from Anamosa High School in 1943. She attended AIB in Des Moines for business training. On June 23, 1945, she married James Edwin Wild at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa in a double ceremony with her sister Jean Livingstone and R. Bruce Brown.
Lois and Jim raised three children on their growing farm operation between Fairview and Viola. Lois always enjoyed being outdoors, and she devoted her life to her husband and family. Faith was important to Lois, and she attended services regularly. She loved people and music, and looked forward to the sunny, social side of life. Always eager to contribute, she canned vegetables from her garden, mowed lawns, and managed a commercial-size poultry/egg operation. If you ever had the pleasure of chatting with Lois over a cup of coffee or two dozen eggs, you may have gained a tip on how to live frugally.
The absolute highlight of her summer was the county fair. Her father had served on the Board of the Great Jones County Fair in Monticello, which Lois attended every year with her mother from beginning to end. As dementia later crept in and her husband Jim passed, she bravely and consciously decided to remain positive about the future. Her pleasant temperament endeared her to Pinicon caregivers, and her family is grateful for their tender care.
Memories of Lois are precious to her children, James R. Wild and his wife, Patti, Jean Wild Dunn, David Wild and his wife, Barbara; as well as nine grandchildren, Justin Wild and his wife, Joyce, Jared Wild and his wife, Dodi, Greg Hand, Daniel Hand, Tricia Grotzinger, Ryan Dunn and his wife, Krista, Sean Dunn and his wife, Jennifer, Ashley Hahesy and her husband, Will, and Caroline Woodmansee and her husband, Sean; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; cousins; and a niece and nephew.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Wild; sister, Jean Brown and her husband, R. Bruce; sister, Doris Larson and her husband, Wayne; sister-in-law, Pauline Neville and her husband, “Bud”; sister-in-law, Vivian Holcomb and her husband, Dillon; and son-in-law, Lynn Dunn.
Memorials in Lois’s memory may be directed to Viola United Methodist Church. They may be sent to: 221 Center Street, Springville, Iowa 52336.
