Linda Kay Hammond

Linda K. Hammond, 72, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. She was born October 10, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of John H., Sr. and Alma Lucille (Dickey) Harbour. She married Lester “Butch” Hammond, Jr. on September 14, 1968 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Michael T. (Debbie) Hammond of Chatham and Scott H. Hammond of Springfield; two grandchildren, Kelsie and Chase Hammond; sister, Lou Ann (Robert) Way of Midlothian, TX; two brothers, John H. (Nancy) Harbour, Jr. of Florida and William Michael (Diann) Harbour of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Lanphier High School. She enjoyed crocheting and going to sporting events. She worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for over 30 years.

Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Dr. John R. Shear officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
