Linda Kassel Perkel

Linda Kassel Perkel, 80, of Hendersonville, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. She was born in New York, NY, to the late Robert and Maxine Studley Kassel. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Peter Stephen Perkel, and her sister Gene Sue Kassel.
Before moving to Hendersonville, Linda resided in Miami, FL, where she had a rewarding career in nursing. She enrolled at Emory University, then transferred to the University of Florida to be closer to her soon-to-be-husband, Peter. She started as a public health nurse, caring for diverse communities in Miami, then went on to earn a Masters degree in Nursing from the University of Miami.
A competent administrator, she spent numerous years in Nursing Administration at Mount Sinai Hospital, Miami Beach. Later, she taught nursing at Barry University in Miami Shores, where she also earned a Phd in Nursing, and then served as Associate Dean. After 20 years at Barry, she retired to NC. In her semi-retirement, she continued her dedication to nursing, teaching online for Walden University.
Linda also received much joy as a member of Agudas Israel Congregation in Laurel Park, NC, where she made many wonderful friends. She was President of the congregation for four years, chaired numerous committees, and received a Woman of Valor award.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Benny) Madsen of Los Altos, CA; son, Jeffrey (Caryn) Perkel of Pocatello, ID; grandchildren, Robert, Sarah, Soren, Sina, and Sofia.
Linda was loved by everyone who knew her, and she dearly loved her family and friends. She was a mentor and advisor to many who knew her and had numerous wonderful friendships.
Services for Linda will be at eleven o’clock on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Agudas Israel Congregation, with Rabbi Rachel Jackson officiating.
