Leona “Lee” Pearl Meyer, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Private graveside services have been held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Lee was born February 4, 1944, in Canton, Missouri, the daughter of John E. and Ruby (Abel) West. She was united in marriage to James L. Meyer on December 26, 1983, in Cedar Rapids. Lee retired from REM of Iowa after 15 years of dedicated service. She loved animals and spending time with her family. Lee enjoyed reading and listening to audio books. She liked watching TV, especially Forging Fire. Lee enjoyed online shopping, cake decorating, and exploring genealogy.
Survivors include her husband, James Meyer; children, Jeff (Leslea) Bolton, Deanna Bolton Heit; stepchildren, Teresa (Les) Bierbaum, and Carrie McCullough; nine grandchildren; sister, Marla Stanley; and sisters-in-law, Deb West, Jane West, Shawn West, and Sharon (Garland) Groom.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, W. Richard Bolton, Jr.; grandson, Andrew Heit; siblings, Jack, James, Robert, and David West, and Kay (Gary) Otterbeck; brother-in-law, Keith Stanley; and former husband, Warren Bolton, Sr.
The family will host a Celebration of Life from 1 – 4 p.m. October 26, 2024, at the Northwest Recreation Center at 1340 11th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405.
