Lawrence “Larry” George Mutchler, 77, of Shenandoah, Ohio passed away at his home on Thursday, October 28, 2021. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 18, 1944 to the late Lawrence and Sophie (Vanecho) Mutchler.
After high school, Larry joined the U.S. Navy and worked as a boiler operator. He worked many jobs throughout his life and previously worked at Taylor Brothers Construction, Mansfield Tire, The Mansfield Reformatory and Wayne Homes. A lover of sports, Larry coached his children in baseball and softball for many years and became a part of the chain gang for Crestview football. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and golfing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family on vacations and holidays. Larry was a proud member of Local 735 Carpenter’s Union and was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mansfield.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Steve) Hoy of Dresden; sons, Matthew (Bethany) Mutchler of Galion and Nathan (Sheena) Mutchler of Shenandoah; six grandchildren, Jacob, Wyatt, Carter, Morgan, Mason and Molly; with one grandchild on the way; and siblings, Donna Dalton, Mary Lochmandy and Jackie Mutchler.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Mutchler; parents-in-law, Ivan and Darcus Stockdale; and siblings, Dave Mutchler and Dan Mutchler.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. A vigil service will follow thereafter beginning at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 220 E. Butler St., Loudonville, Ohio 44842 with Father John Mulhollan officiating. He will be laid to rest in St. Peter Cemetery.
