Laura May DuMont

Laura M. (Underwood) DuMont, 106 years old, of Yorkville, Il., passed away on October 22, 2022. She was born July 12, 1916 in Corinth, WI, the daughter of Charles and Johanna (Bucholz) Underwood Sr.
Laura was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Boulder Hill where she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and attended Bible studies. She was employed by Western Electric for 20 years, retiring in 1975. She then did volunteer work at Copley Memorial Hospital
Survivors include her son, James (Betty) DuMont Sr. of Genoa, thirteen grandchildren: Debra (late Cleitus) Smith, LeRoy and Judi Richmond, David (Julie) Richmond, Richard Van Etten, Chuck (Charlene) Van Etten, Jeffrey (Carmen) Van Etten, James (Debi) DuMont Jr., Sheila Wagner, Sherri (Robert) Loft, Chris (Mary) Berg, Tim (Ellen) Berg, and Ben (Amy) Berg; nineteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles DuMont, daughters Susan Berg, Joyce Van Etten, and Genevieve Richmond, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be at Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N Bridge St., Yorkville, IL on Friday, October 28th from 12 noon until 2 p.m. A Funeral Service to follow the visitation with Pastor Stevan Saunders, officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Aurora, IL.
