Larry Wayne Maloney, 78, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Born on October 10, 1946, in Princeton, Missouri, Larry was the son of William and Betha “Jean” (McLin) Maloney. He graduated from Central City High School. On May 20, 1967, he wed his beloved, Bonita “Bonnie” Hawthorn, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After dedicating 40 years to his career at Springville Coop and Linn Coop, he retired in 2010.
He enjoyed various activities such as coon hunting, fishing, dancing, playing slow-pitch softball, and shooting pool. He possessed an extraordinary knack for making acquaintances wherever he went. Nevertheless, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his friends and family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include his beautiful wife of 57 ½ years, Bonita; children, Mike (Sonya) Maloney and Tammy (Marty) Till; grandchildren, Amanda (Kristina) Draconis, Erin (Jordan) Maloney, Brody Maloney, Meagan Norton, Spencer Norton, Tyler Till, and Brody Till; great-grandchildren; Braxton, Caiden, and Emma; sister, Barb (Craig) Yeisley; sister-in-law, Rebecca Wittke; brother-in-law, David (Diane) Hawthorn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby Maloney, and brother Teddy Maloney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be in the care of Bonita Maloney.
