Larry Jack Hill
- December 2, 2021
Larry Jack Hill, 82, of Shelby, peacefully passed away early Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 8, 1939, in Maysville, Kentucky, and moved to Mansfield when he was 8 years old. Larry graduated from Madison High School and was a four year veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed with a missile unit in Germany. He retired from Artesian. Larry was an all around great guy who was full of life. His favorite activity was having breakfast with his grandson, Adam, trying out new places and spending quality time together. Three days a week, Larry could be found with his “coffee club” friends, Denny, Kenny and Ray, visiting and catching up with each other’s lives. He was active in various outdoor clubs and associations for many years. Larry was a member of Journey Life Center.
Larry is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Sylvia Adams Hill; two daughters, Felicia (Ben) Willman and Amy (Mike) McLaughlin; a grandson, Adam McLaughlin; a sister, Nancy (Carl) Jewell; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia (Bartram) and Herbert Hill; brother, Joe Hill; and sister, Melanie Jane Hill-Baker.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Dr. Bruce A. Philippi will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. He will be laid to rest in Ontario Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Fish and Game Club.
A sincere thanks to Uncle Gary for all the help and loving care given to Larry in his last days.
