Larry D. Burton

Larry D. Burton, 61, of Springfield died at 1:20 am, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born June 9, 1960 in Springfield, to Wayne and Gertrude Cowan Burton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Reda Sandlin and brother-in-law, Dennis Stevens.

Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth (Michelle) Burton of Tallula and Thomas (Keishia) Burton of London, KY; two sisters, Kathie Stevens of Pleasant Plains and Clara (Clifford) Klauzer of Tallula; brother-in-law, Bill Sandlin of Kentucky; several aunts and uncles, 5 nieces, Greta, Ramona (Andrew), Karissa, Kiersten (Jonathan) and Rachael (Ken); 7 nephews, Lucas (Kristy), Jared (Laurie), Matthew (Becky), William (Megan), Caleb (Elizabeth), Klayton (Kaitlin) and Jeremy (Jessica); 10 great nieces, Ariel (Trent), Ellie, Paige, Payton, Violet, Hannah, Grace, Gracie, Lydia and Ava; 16 great nephews, Chandler, Cole, Clifford, Brenton, P.J., Hunter, Carson, Owen, Noah, Nolan, Kolton, Briar, Hudson, Joseph, Jackson and Oliver; one great-great niece, Tinley and one great-great nephew, Carter and several cousins. And his best friend and companion, his dog, Buddy:

Larry was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He was usually in his boat fishing on the lake or in his garage rebuilding some type of motor. If Larry couldn’t fix it, nobody could.

He worked with his father for many years at Wayne’s Service Station at the corner of Amos and Jefferson in Springfield and worked for several tire companies in his later years.

Graveside service: 11:00 am, Monday, April 4, 2022 at Bethel Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.
