Larry “Bo” Nelson Evans Sr.
Larry “Bo” Nelson Evans Sr., 79, of Mansfield, passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Friday, December 3, 2021.
Bo was born on March 11, 1942 in Rowan County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Nelson and Katherine Johnson Evans. Bo was employed at General Motors for 30 years where he was a tow motor operator in the shipping department. He was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family. Bo was an exceptional baker, and his family is going to dearly miss his amazing baked goods. Bo embodied the true definition of “real men wear pink” and was proud to embrace it. He enjoyed being outdoors: hunting, fishing, gardening and camping at Poppy Mountain where he enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Music.
Bo leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Shirley Price Evans; his children, Kimberly (Jimmy) Adkins and Larry (Carolyn “Dump”) Evans Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Trina Evans; his siblings, Grady Evans, Mike (Gay) Evans, and Susie (Brent) Fultz; his sisters-in-law, Katie Evans and Aileen Evans; his cherished grandchildren, Crystal (Shannon Skaggs) Evans , Kali (Cody) Hughes, Kelsi (Billy) Ratliff, and Tess Evans; his great-granddaughter, Willa Kay Skaggs; his close friends, Doug Morgan, Wilgus “Wig” Chinn and Greg Cantleberry; and many other close family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Wilma Kay Evans; his son, Brian Evans; his brothers, Gene and Dan Evans; his sister, Joan Sturgill; his sister-in-law, Bessie Jo (Boggs) Evans; and his in-laws, Hansel and Martha Webb.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill. An additional hour of calling will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin immediately at 1:00 pm.
