Kirsten Noelle McClendon, 47, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Aug. 11, 2022, after a brief illness.
Kirsten was born at Balboa Naval Hospital San Diego, Calif., on May 27, 1975, to R. Glenn McClendon and Karen (Chambers) McClendon.
Kirsten graduated from Kennedy High School Cedar Rapids in 1993. She was first violin in the orchestra. She was also in the color guard and the drama department, performing in several plays.
Kirsten volunteered in the Autism room and is honored for that with a plaque posted in the school. She also played piano.
She completed her undergraduate work at Coe College and went on to graduate summa cum laude from UNI in 2002 with a Master of Education.
Kirsten is survived by her mother; Karen (McClendon) Johnson of Palo, Iowa; and her children, Noelle Seebeck (17), Jude Seebeck(14) and Sloane Seebeck (10) of Iowa City. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Also surviving is her life partner, Tim Mackey.
She was preceded in death by her father and her maternal grandmother.
Kirsten was a wonderful, caring, loving, smart, fun, funny person. She had a talent for creative writing, which served her well during her education.
Her children were her pride and joy and she considered them to be her greatest accomplishment.
She will forever be in our hearts.
Services will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m.
