Kip Jon Morrow
Ron and Betty Morrow warmly embraced Kip for the first time on February 9, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At home, Deke and Tapi excitedly awaited his arrival. Deke, the oldest, and the one in charge, and Tapi, the middle child, would spend hours playing with Kip. He spent much of his childhood on adventures with his friends and siblings. His fun spirit took him upon many trips on his purple banana-seat bike.
Kip began to develop a love for woodworking and craftmanship. As a young man, he now concentrated on his education at Kennedy High School and his growing passion to build. Graduation day came in 1984. Although unclear about his future, God already had it planned. He was led to pursue endeavors in the insurance world; however, brought to the understanding that God was molding him into something greater, he shut the door to an office and followed God through a new one— a door to Hyles-Anderson College. The halls of this Crown Point, Indiana, school have a special place in the story. Here Kip meets his love, his princess, Nelly Sanchez. The simple opening of a door for a beautiful woman is where the creation of a family starts. Kip and Nelly cross this threshhold together in marriage on December 23, 1995. Fervent prayer and trust are the components that help Kip walk the journey of faith that he will take for the rest of his life.
Other than family, Kip’s life embraces God, His grace and the journey He has for him.
For 18 years, Kip served with his dad and mentor Ron at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Marion, Iowa. He builds upon his crafting skills, this time not with wood, but with the lives of those who need to know the message of grace. He is guiding people, being used by Jesus to tell those of his transformation in Christ, for in Him we are a new creature.
Kip and Nelly welcome their first children, twins and buds Remington and Royce. Soon after, they are blessed with their precious daughter, Victoria. Kip’s new project entails crafting his children that they may seek to honor and discover God.
Kip continues in the Lord’s work with his father until Ron passes away in May of 2016. Through this ground-shaking event, God creates a perfect storm. His peace allows Kip’s faith to grow, and for the journey to only get better. It is fully evident the Spirit has been drawing him to new and profound discoveries. In his faithfulness, God would prepare him to lead.
Victory in Grace opened its doors on August 27, 2017, orchestrated in a way only God could do. God’s grace would continue to abound in Kip’s life as he became the crucible in God’s fiery furnace. Despite an emergency surgery, the diagnosis of a brain tumor, and extensive treatments, the fruit of the Spirit would continue to blossom in so many ways that are just too wonderful. Pastor Kip taught others that through grace we are bought with the precious blood of Jesus, and have inherited the unsearchable riches of Christ, that we may know who we are in Christ. “So the Lord blessed the latter end of Kip more than his beginning.”
An Evening of Remembrance will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Victory in Grace, 1700 B Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. A funeral celebrating the life of Pastor Kip will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Victory in Grace, with entombment to follow in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
