Kimberly “Kimm” Kay Unkrich, 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minn. Service: Noon, Monday at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 9 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Jeff; two daughters, Janelle Unkrich of Tama and Breanne Unkrich of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Cohen Unkrich of Tama; sister, Kristy McCusker (and family) of Smyrna, Del.; and mother-in-law, Jacquline Sue Unkrich of Cedar Rapids. Other several, close family and friends are celebrating her life as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandparents, John and Vi Zenisek.
Kimm was born on July 18, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Gerald and Karen Zenisek Langfitt. She graduated from LaSalle High School in 1980 and received a bachelor’s degree from UNI in 1984. On June 29, 1985, Kimm married Jeff Unkrich in Cedar Rapids. She spent many years working as a childcare director, and she also worked retail at both Toys R Us and JCPenney. Kimm was a member of the Eagles Club.
Kimm loved spending time and attending events with her family and friends. She was always positive and knew someone wherever she went. Kimm was a fan club member of her favorite shows and musicians such as Harry Potter, Supernatural and Barry Manilow. She also enjoyed flowers and making arrangements/wreaths. Kimm will be greatly missed by many.
