Kevin Duane Baumgartner, 61, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born on Jan. 20, 1962, in Manchester, the son of Keith and Evelin (Kubicek) Baumgartner. Kevin was raised and educated in the Strawberry Point area and was a 1980 graduate of Starmont High School. After graduating, Kevin began farming.

On Sept. 3, 1988, Kevin was united in marriage to Lisa Werner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. They were blessed with two children, Sara and Evan. Kevin was a lifetime farmer and worked with family on the Baumgartner Brothers’ Farm.

Kevin was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He volunteered for the Starmont Booster Club, Strawberry Point Park and Rec Board, and Clayton County FSA County Office Committee. He took pride in his calf and cow herd and enjoyed watching wildlife along the countryside. He was always there to help anyone in need, and especially enjoyed spending time with others hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Special times for him were cooking for family and friends and spending time at their cabin. Kevin was an avid Las Vegas Raiders and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He had a love for farming, but his true love was his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lisa Baumgartner of Strawberry Point; daughter, Sara (Alex) Hawkins of Lamont; son, Evan Baumgartner of Strawberry Point; two grandchildren, Zane and Ava Hawkins; his mother, Evelin Baumgartner of Strawberry Point; brother, Douglas (Lori) Baumgartner of Strawberry Point; sister, Kimberly (Rodney) Hettinger of Strawberry Point; father-in-law, Ralph Werner of Strawberry Point; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Tim (LeAnne) Werner of St. Louis, Mo., Sharon (Mike) Wilkinson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jeff Werner of Strawberry Point; and several nieces and nephews.
