Kenneth L. Rossi

Kenneth L. Rossi, 67, of Springfield died at 3:25 pm, Monday, January 10, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 30, 1954 to Leno P. and Armella (Perona) Rossi of Tovey, IL. Ken was a 1972 graduate of Kincaid Highschool.

He is survived by his companion of 35 years Trudy Sponsler and her daughters, Julie Sponsler (Ty Talbot) of Seattle, Washington and Jana Summers of Shoreline, Washington; one granddaughter, Nora Talbot and several cousins.

Kenneth retired from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office in 2011 as a stationary engineer. He was a member and past president of the Roman Cultural Society and a member of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame. He was also an investor in Cigars for Aficionados. He enjoyed travel, cooking, fine dining, smoking cigars with friends, watching the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Dodgers, and sipping his coveted Pappy Van Winkle. He never met a stranger and often left quite an impression on those he met. He was notably generous and enjoyed giving gifts (often food) and supporting and raising funds for favorite charities.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
