Kenneth “Kenny” Laberto Brown, 81, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away October 24, 2024, at Heritage Specialty Care, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Kenny was born May 21, 1943, to Orie and Emma (Hernik) Brown in Belle Plaine, IA. Growing up in Irving he attended Irving school until 9th grade and moved to rural Chelsea during high school. Kenny graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1961. He was drafted during the Vietnam War in 1966, serving in the U.S. Army. While stateside he joined the 82nd Airborne, then the 173rd in Vietnam completing 11 jumps before he was discharged in 1968.
On March 20, 1971, Kenny married Jacklyn Dvorak. Kenny worked as a mason for Ed Siefken and in 1973 went to work for the Belle Plaine School District as a bus driver and maintenance. After retiring in 2003, Kenny continued to drive bus for many years. He also worked for the Belle Plaine Police Department and security work.
Kenny enjoyed going to the Casino, eating out, snuggling with the stupid cat, and hanging out with the monsters (his grandsons).
He is survived by his wife 53 years, Jackie; daughter, Clarissa (Josh) Osborne; grandsons, Skyler and Xander all of Belle Plaine; brother, Robert Brown of Cherryville, NC; sister-in-law, Julie Brown of Belle Plaine; and many nieces and nephews.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donald Brown and Linda (Bob) Kratoska; sister-in-law, Carolyn Brown.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine with military honors.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday, October 28th at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com
