He was born February 2, 1934, in Rural Bremer County to Alvin and Amelia (Boddeker) Meyerhoff. Ken served in the United States Army overseas in Germany. He worked for 30 years at the Wilson Packing Company in Cedar Rapids until his retirement. After retirement, Ken owned “Ken’s Antenna Service” in Cedar Rapids. He was a proud member of the Fraternity Order of Eagles in Cedar Rapids and participated in Parade Marching Competition. Ken loved the outdoors, enjoyed working, water-skiing, traveling, snowmobiling and was a life-long learner. Also gardening, he took “special pride” in growing onions and potatoes for his family. Ken’s last wish was to be present for one more Family Christmas and his wish was full-filled. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His last activity was doing fist bumps with the 2-year-old great-grand twins.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Schwers), children, James (Justine) Meyerhoff and Jerry Meyerhoff; grandfather of five; great-grandfather of four: siblings, Arlan and Lee; sisters-in-law, Kay and Bernadette: and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son; Vernal; his parents; siblings, Agnes, Florene, Les and Burt; in-laws, William and Marie Schwers, Arnold Schwers and Ambrose Ryan.
Ken made the world a better place for his family and friends.
Memorials may be given to Camp Courageous in Monticello.
