Kenneth Eugene Light, 82, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at his home. He was born December 20, 1938 in Ashland, the son of Roscoe B. and Beulah Esther (Hazlett) Light.
Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1955 to 1959 in the engineering department. He served as a Deputy Sheriff in Ashland County from 1960 to 1973 and also worked for General Motors as an automobile stamper from 1964 to 2006. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar and cameras and liked to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (Wharton) Light; his sons, Anthony (Christina) Light and Brian (Lori) Light; two grandchildren, Joshua Light and Katelyn Smith; and his sisters, Esther Kitts and Leona Kerr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Forest Eikeberry; his sisters, Alice Dalton and Miriam Pitts; and a special nephew, Sergeant Tim Kitts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland conducted by Dr. John Jordan. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland County Dog Shelter.
