Kathryn M. Hellwig
Kathryn M. Hellwig, age 65 of Big Rock, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born on January 20, 1956 in Evanston, IL the daughter of John F. and Ernestine (Altmayer) Halvorson.
Kathryn was united in marriage on August 5, 1978 to Mr. John Hellwig and they spent the next 43 years happily together. Kathy was a longtime and very active member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, John Hellwig of Big Rock, IL; her daughters,
Bridget (Jason) Yuvan of Livingston, MT, Jessica Hellwig of Big Rock, IL and Erin (Andrew) Las of Plainfield, IL; her grandchildren, Braeden and Molly Yuvan; her mother, Ernestine Halvorson of Yorkville, IL; her brother, Paul (Martha) Halvorson of Charleston, SC; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John F. Halvorson; also one aunt and one uncle.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 8, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Bristol, IL.
Friends may visit from 1:00 until 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.
In memory of Kathryn, memorials may be directed to her family who will then forward it to her favorite charity, “Project Cow”.
