Karen Lucille Rohlena, 84, of Fairfax, passed away on April 3, 2024, at the Winslow House Care Center, Marion. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2024, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Karen was born on May 17, 1939, in Tiffin, the daughter of Maynard and Hazel (Oswald) Edmonds. She attended Madison #5 Country School and graduated from Oxford High School in 1957. She earned a degree from Iowa City Business College. Karen was united to Neil Rohlena on June 12, 1960, in Iowa City. She worked as a Secretary at Larew Plumbing, then Collins Radio, and later dedicated her life to raising a family and helping others through Camp Fire Girls, Boy Scouts, and the Antique Auto Club. She enjoyed crafts, traveling, and anything that involved family and friends, including supporting Neil while he played the accordion at Nursing Homes.
Karen is survived by her husband, Neil; her children Randy (Pat) Rohlena and Renee (Mike) Frazier; her grandchildren Justin Rohlena (Laurann Sauerbry), Allison Rohlena, Amber Frazier, Lindsey Frazier, and Casey (Michele) Netolicky; great-grandchildren Riker Rohlena, Claire and Quinn Netolicky; her brother Terry (Connie) Edmonds; sister-in-law Sharon (Virgil) Schminke; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents.
