Karen Lee Wallace

Karen Lee Wallace

Karen Lee Wallace, age 77, of Pecan Plantation, Texas, went to her heavenly father on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.   She was born October 6, 1943 in San Diego, California to Archie and Dorothy Keofed Gilbert.

On June 14th, 1964 in Canyon City, Colorado, Karen married Robert William Wallace – the Love of her Life!  Their 57 years of marriage were spent mainly in Colorado where she worked for the City of Aurora Golf Division for 20+ years; she was also a graduate of University of Northern Colorado with a degree in elementary education.

Karen was a dedicated member of Triple Cross Cowboy Church; she enjoyed attending all church activities that included High Nooners and small group bible studies. Her daily devotions and her beloved church family were a very important part of her life.  Karen enjoyed the outdoors and the western way of life.  In her younger years, where she grew up in Wetmore Colorado, she rodeoed and was an accomplished horseman. She also enjoyed spending time with friends in her community of Pecan Plantation and the Women’s Club.  Karen was also an artist. She enjoyed painting, reading and golf. But Karen’s true passion was spending time with her family, traveling and camping in their 5th wheel camper.  She loved watching her granddaughters grow up playing soccer, golf, baking and daily devotions – they will miss her tremendously.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Ann Wallace – Hoener.

Karen leaves behind to cherish her memory: husband, Bob Wallace; son “Willie” William Lee Wallace of Keller, Texas and wife Adena Wallace; granddaughters, Lauren Marie Wallace and Kristen Lee Wallace; sister, Linda Bankoski of North Carolina and son-in-law, Roy Hoener of Fort Scott, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Laura Ann Wallace Hoener Memorial Scholarship at Kansas State University.

Services will be held at Triple Cross Cowboy Church on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
