Judy Z. Dumas
- July 1, 2021
Judy Zakeer Dumas, 71, of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Elizabeth House. She was born in Fort Dodge, IA to the late Donald and Betty Jane Houck Zakeer. Before settling in Henderson County two years ago, she previously resided in Minneapolis, MN and Sarasota, FL.
Judy attended Duncombe Elementary School in Fort Dodge, IA and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in Minneapolis, MN. She was employed as a Realtor at Prudential Cascade Realty in Sarasota, FL. As a child, she was affiliated with the Catholic church, but she would always say, “My garden is my church.”
Judy loved gardening. Her favorite comment was, “You have to talk to your plants.” She also enjoyed arts and crafts and spent years fostering golden retrievers. She was a dedicated mother to her three children. She provided them sound practical advice and would always speak her mind. She gave them tons of love and care, taught them right and wrong, and shared a realistic, compassionate view of the world. She was a role model for the journey of life and guided her growing sons through life decisions. Her children came first.
During her twenties, she traveled the world. These experiences would reflect in her worldly spirit. Judy had a singular beautiful light, her wisdom, her humor, and her compassion were pure love. Her family lifts her up with love, as she lifted us up with love.
She is survived by her husband, James Dumas; sons, Cody Dumas and Chad Dumas, and Justin Dumas; daughter-in-law, Mandy Dumas; granddaughter, Lauren Dumas; and brother, Donald Zakeer.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice Foundation, 211 North Main Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
