Judith was born on March 4, 1945, the firstborn daughter of Martin and Ellouis (Wenndt) Daehn. She graduated from Wheatland High School with the Class of 1963. Judy married William “Bill” Norton on October 14, 1972 in Grinnell, Iowa. Bill passed away on December 5, 2016.

Judy worked at Norton, Baumann & Surls Law Firm in Lowden, the same firm that her husband, Bill, founded in 1953. Judy and Bill believed strongly in the importance of community and were proud supporters of the Lowden Development Corporation, Little Home Day Care Center, and the Lowden Retirement Housing Corporation. Judy was also a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was honored to serve as the Secretary of the Endowment Committee. Judy was deeply committed to her family and loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Most of all, Judy loved family time, especially creating special Christmas memories (her favorite time of the year). She would often end her emails with a “Hug Tighter” message.

Judy will be lovingly remembered by two children, Lori (David) Meier of Denver, Iowa and Mark (Kelly) Norton of Lisbon, Iowa; three stepchildren, William B. (Georgann) Norton of Kansas City, Missouri, Marla Norton of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bradley (Elizabeth) Norton of Denver, Colorado; eleven grandchildren, Jacob (Mariah) Meier, Jillian Meier, Caleb Norton and Bryanna Norton, Christopher (Mary) Hill, Rachelle Cutshall, Will (Diana) Norton, Nathan (Arianne) Dittman, Jared (Monse) Dittman, Madelyn (Jordan) Sherrill, and Meredith Norton; fourteen great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Calliope Meier, Adam, Pearl and Silas Hill, Savannah and Robert Cutshall, Grayson and Liam Norton, Mia, Olivia, and Lucas Dittman, and Lucas and Drew Sherrill; one brother, David (Brenda) Daehn of Wheatland; and one sister, Mary Daehn of Davenport.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; one stepdaughter, Denise Hill; stepson-in-law, Alain Taylon; and one sister, Sandra Runte.

The family requests that you wear one of Judy’s favorites to the visitation: 1: She loved the color red most of all. 2: Wear your favorite sports team. (She loved any and all sports, but particularly looked forward to the Olympics.), or 3: Beachwear (she loved to travel and looked forward to a yearly family vacation to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina).
