Joyce Mae Clark Jurgensen passed away on March 25, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Joyce was born on Nov. 26, 1936, to Lyle Edward Clark and Thelma Josephine Fairbanks Clark in Monticello, Iowa. She graduated from the Monticello High School, with the Class of 1954. She married Arthur Jurgensen on June 13, 1958.
Joyce worked at Monticello State Bank and Dubuque Bank and Trust. Later she and Art were into refinishing furniture and set up shop in Delmar, Iowa. After closing the shop, she accompanied Art on a journey of building and remodeling Target stores for Conlon Construction, all across the United States, settling in Henderson, Nev., for their retirement.
Joyce was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, and was a regular attendee at the Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Henderson.
She is survived by two sisters, Lucille McCafferty, Cedar Rapids, and Jean Krueger, Monticello; a niece, Shannon McCafferty Haas; nephews, Jody, David and Randy Krueger ; six great-nieces and -nephews, and seven great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Joyce was a very caring person and enjoyed her many friends and neighbors in Henderson. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service was held on April 4 in Henderson. Services in Monticello will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Kathryn Newhall presiding. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Joyce and her family into their care.
