Joyce L. Schnipkoweit, 79, of Lost Nation passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. Her memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. Dawson Funeral Services of Maquoketa is caring for her family.
Joyce Lynn was born on June 14, 1943, in Toronto, Iowa, to John and Esther (Struck) Willey. She graduated from Wheatland High School and went on to earn her BSN from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. On Nov. 16, 1963, she was united in marriage to Fred Schnipkoweit at the Toronto Community Church. Joyce worked as an orthopedic charge nurse for over 34 years. She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. She volunteered at the food pantry and numerous other activities in the Lost Nation community over the years. Joyce enjoyed playing cards, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Joed and Shellie Heinen Schnipkoweit of Davenport and Tina Schnipkoweit of Tipton; three grandchildren, Justyn, Ivy and Emilie; two sisters; Gloria Ruggeberg of DeWitt and Rita (Jim) Meyer of Toronto; and sister-in-law, Delores (Boyd) Hubb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union Presbyterian Church or the Lost Nation Fire Department in her honor.
