Joyce L. Ray

Joyce L. Ray, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at her home.  She was born December 3, 1946 in Detroit MI, to Estil C. and Jewell Moore Ray.

Survivors include two daughters, Shannon McAllister of St. Louis, MO and Dawn Marie (Rick) Carr of Champaign, IL; one son, Sean Whitley of Chatham; four grandchildren, Maggie McAllister, Olivia Carr and Kara and Alyson Whitley; one brother, Jerry (Arden) Ray of Corvallis, OR; and one nephew, Bret Ray of Albany, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joyce was a US Navy Veteran.  She worked for the State of Illinois in Child Support Enforcement for 20 years.

She was an entertainer at heart and performed in many local bars and restaurants.

Cremation will be accorded and Joyce will be laid to rest with her parents on a hillside in Oregon.

A family hosted Celebration of Life will be held from 11 am – 4 pm, on Friday, September 9, 2022 at VFW Lafore Lock Post 755, 2211 Old Jacksonville Rd, Springfield, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure: Breast Cancer Foundation or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
