After burial, family and friends can gather at Joe’s home from 3 to 6 pm.

Joe, along with his twin brother Jim, were born February 1, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Joseph Roman Sr. and Barbara (Giblin) Roman. After graduating from La Salle High School in 1973, Joe started at Wilson’s before going into the trades starting as a journeyman sheet metal worker. Later on, he became a project manager until he retired in 2017 from Climate Engineers. Joe was a dedicated, hard worker who possessed much pride in is work. He eagerly shared his projects and accomplishments with others, oftentimes accompanied by an abundance of pictures he proudly had taken. As a result of his hard work, he was able to provide one of the best lives one could imagine to his wife, Glori, his daughters Shelly and Shawna and his 8 grandchildren whom lovingly called him “Papa.”

On August 6, 1977, Joe and Glori were married and went on to have two daughters, Shelly and Shawna. Joe never missed a game or school event, even if that meant attending in his dirty work clothes. He could always be counted on for teaching you how to fix something, offering his opinion (of which he had many, especially with politics) and supporting his family in anyway needed. Joe took great pride in being a wonderful provider to his wife Glori and his 2 girls. When Joe wasn’t at work, he could be seen having a cold one with his Westside family, sitting in front of the TV with a snack or tinkering around in his shop. Joe was also an Iowa Hawkeyes fan through and through. Joe and Glori loved to travel together whether alone or with friends and family. Most recently they were away for 3 weeks to see Alaska and Oregon and made many wonderful memories.

Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Glori, his daughters Shelly Vaske and Shawna (Alan) Wilhelm, his grandchildren Sadie, Tayva, Wesley, Layne, Lucy, Vivienne, Kinnick and Kayden; his siblings Jim Roman, Linda Erenberger and Cindy Ties along with his Giblin cousins and other family members. Also grieving Joe’s passing are many lifelong friends including Riley’s, Erceg’s, Blaha’s, Kubik’s and Myhre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Barb Roman and his sister, Laura Hill.

Joe’s family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and Dr. Maria Doce for their care during his final days on earth.
