Joseph “Joey” M. Ballatore, age 35, of Tiffin, passed away in a car accident on Thursday, October 3, 2024. A private memorial service was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Inurnment was at First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Conroy. Cards and memorials may be sent to the family in care of Kloster Funeral Home, at 298 W. Washington St., Marengo, Iowa. 52301.

Joey is survived by his wife Sheena of Tiffin; his children Miles and Giuliana “Gigi” Ballatore; his parents Frank and Antonia “Toni” Ballatore of Naples, FL, his mother-in-law Shelly Schumacher of Amana; a sister Christina Jessica “C.J.” Ballatore of Heber City, UT, a brother-in-law Kyle (Ashley) Schumacher of Amana; and his paternal grandmother Nina Malgioglio of Naples, FL.

He is preceded in death by his father-in-law Mark Schumacher; his paternal grandparents Joseph and Catherine Ballatore and his maternal grandfather Joseph Malgioglio.

Joseph Michael Ballatore was born October 6, 1988, on Long Island, NY, the son of Frank and Antonia Malgioglio Ballatore. He was raised in Connecticut and graduated from Ridgefield High School with the class of 2006. Joey attended the University of Connecticut and received his bachelor’s degree in finance, and his doctorate in Pre-Medicine. He then graduated from UConn with his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2016. Joey was united in marriage to Sheena Schumacher on November 11, 2017, in Iowa City, IA. He achieved his Certificate in Periodontics through the University of Iowa in 2019 and received his certification from the American Board of Periontology in 2021. Joey enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He especially loved the East Coast and all the great food there. Joey was an avid sports fan, loved all kinds of music and was a trivia buff. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with Sheena, Miles and Gigi.
