Joseph “Joe” P. Forestier

Joseph “Joe” P. Forestier, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 1, 1951, in Springfield, the son of Joseph S. and Dorothy M. (Czarnecki) Forestier. He married Christina S. Ramirez on July 23, 2005 and she survives.
Also surviving are one sister, Patricia “Trish” (Don) Reynolds of Springfield; five brothers-in-law, Robert (Maggi) Ramirez of Springfield, Peter (Pat) Ramirez of Chicago, Michael (Linda) Ramirez of St. Charles, MO, Patrick (Bonnie) Ramirez of Nashville, TN, and Thomas (Jaynie) Ramirez of Cape Coral, FL; bonus daughter, Robyn Lawson of Springfield; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Henry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
Joe was a resident of Springfield all his life and graduated from Southeast High School. He belonged to and was an active member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He was president of the Prairie State Polish Club where he was a member for many years. Joe worked for the State of Illinois, processing DUI’s, in the Secretary of State’s office, retiring after 30 years of service. Joe was the Chicago Cubs number one fan, loved to bowl and play darts with his friends.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with a Prayer Service at 4:00 pm. Please wear your Cubs attire in honor of Joe.
Lie-in-state: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with Reverend Dominic Vahling officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
