Joseph was born in Springfield, Missouri to Norma and Joseph Alexander, Sr.  He graduated from South High Wichita High School in 1964, and he was drummer in a rock and roll and country band. On June 27, 1965, he married the love of his life, Sandra Terry. The couple went on to have two sons, Ken and David Alexander.

Joseph began his career as an aircraft mechanic and industrial draftsman in Wichita, Kansas. He relocated his family to Texas in 1974 and continued his career as an aircraft mechanic for more than 40 years at Lockheed Martin retiring in 2017. He also pursued a passion serving as a reserve police officer in Valley Center, Kansas and Hood County, Texas. He was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved.

He attended Arlington Baptist College in 1974 and finished his Bachelors of Theology degree at Landmark Baptist Seminary. His main passion in live was to serve the Lord. He lived a life well served at Oak Trail Baptist Church as a song leader, deacon, bus ministry leader, and children’s ministry.
