John W. Murst, age 93 of Yorkville, IL passed away at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora on Monday, October 24, 2022.  He was born on May 11, 1929, in Aurora, IL., the son of Clarence and Ethel (Olson) Murst.  John served in the Korean War as a Wireman for The U.S. Army H& Co., 1903rd Engineering Aviation Battalion.  After an honorable discharge, John was then employed with The Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a Lineman before being promoted to Area Foreman for 39 years until his retirement in 1985.  He then occupied his time by working at KR&G Excavating where he acquired the nickname of “Papa Louie”. John was united in marriage on December 23, 1956, to Juanita M. Dickson in Bristol.  Together they built a home which received the “Best Built Home in Kendall County” award.  Here they raised their children and numerous animals.  They then purchased Juanita’s family farm in 1973 which they moved to and spent many hours maintaining the farm to give it a ”showplace” appearance and is today a historical site known as “The Dickson-Murst Farm”.  They retired to a home on the river in Yorkville where he enjoyed sitting on the deck smoking his pipe and doing Word Search books.  John was a member of The Telephone of America Pioneer’s, The Kendall County Mason Lodge 471, and The American Legion.  John is survived by his wife Juanita, three children, Robert (Lori) Murst of Sheridan, Thomas Murst of Harrison, Arkansas, and Julie (David) Behrens of Sheridan, three grandchildren, Natasha Garcia, Stephanie (Eric) Theisinger, and Jennifer (Carl) Stemmet, five great grandchildren, Hailey and Ryan Garcia, Olivia and Kyler Theisinger, and Colton Stemmet.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lynn (Ron) Garner.  Per his wishes, there will be no service or visitation.  A private burial will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to The Conservation Foundation, at 10s404 Knoch Knolls Rd, Naperville, IL. 60565.  Please place in memo field; c/o Dickson-Murst Farm OR John Murst.  Online donations can also be made here and indicate John Murst in the tribute section.  Donation Form (donorperfect.net)
