John Ronald Holmin

John Ronald Holmin, 83, of Springfield died at 11:31 am, Monday, June 28, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born August 21, 1937 in Springfield, IL to Cyril and Dorothy (Wakefield) Holmin. He married Phyllis Daley on May 26, 1962 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kellie Holmin of Springfield; one son, David (Kris) Holmin of Gulf Shores, AL; granddaughter, Joanna Holmin of Dallas, TX; grand dog, Riley; one sister, Dorothy (Paul) Stefanini of Massachusetts and many sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Diane Crifasi.

Mr. Holmin is a graduate of Lanphier High School and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and also served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company as a computer specialist after 36 years of service.

Mr. Holmin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He loved fishing, traveling, spending time with family, and was an avid Notre Dame fan.

Memorial Gathering: 9:30 – 11:30 am, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Memorial Service: 11:30 am, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Pam Mitcham officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
