John R. Parkes

John R. Parkes, 62, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born October 24, 1959, in Springfield, the son of Harold and Virginia Stoffels Parkes.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Parkes of Springfield and T.J. Parkes of New Berlin; father, Harold of Pleasant Plains; sister, Beth Parkes Irwin of Pleasant Plains; brother, Mike (Lara) Parkes of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia and brother, Paul Parkes.

John belonged to St. Agnes Catholic Church. He retired from the Sangamon County Rescue Squad and the Pleasant Plains Fire Department. He was a huge supporter of the FFA and loved to spend time at deer camp. He worked for AGIO, Ltd. and was a farmer who had his own produce stand.

Memorial Gathering: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, January 31, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sangamon County Rescue Squad or Pleasant Plains FFA.
