John R. Groh

John R. Groh, 85, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover.

Born in Akron, he was the son of the late Reuben H. and Daisy M. (Shane) Groh and a graduate of the former Sugarcreek / Shanesville High School at Sugarcreek. John had retired from East Ohio Gas where he worked as a fieldman and was also a life member of the New Philadelphia Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1445 and the New Philadelphia Amvets Post #1338.

John possessed many passions in life. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and working around the house, classic cars, going to car shows and fishing but more than anything, he loved just spending time with his two sons.

On April 10, 1964, John married Judith Ann (Dotts) Groh, and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey J. Groh and Michael J. Groh both of New Philadelphia.

In addition to his parents, a sister, Betty Jean Stevens and a brother, Fred Groh, also precede him in death.

In keeping with John’s wishes, he is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a private burial will take place in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
