John Max Scheurer, Jr. 80, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. John was born on July 19, 1940, in Mansfield to the late Margaret (Hassinger) and John M. Scheurer, Sr.
John’s main priority was his family, supporting all his kids and grandkid’s activities over many years. John was also a member and past President of the Madison Township Lions Club and former Madison School Board member.
His hobbies included collecting and restoring antique boats and outboard motors. He was also a collector of classic cars and trucks. John was a pipe fitter by trade and retired from Guenther Mechanical in Ashland, Ohio.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Betty (Eggerton) Scheurer whom he married on June 9, 1962; daughters, Lisa (Craig) Dotson and Kristin Weaver; son, Greg (Dena) Scheurer; grandchildren, Cory, Lindsey, Molly, Nick, Max, Baylie; step granddaughters, Halie and Jamie; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sister, Shurlene Curatti.
Per John’s request no funeral services will be held. His family will have a private memorial gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Madison Township Lions Club.
The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
