John M. Zaranec Sr.

John M. Zaranec, Sr., 95, of Ashland, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at Brethren Care Village. Born February 20, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of John W. and Susan (Turoci) Zaranec.

John was a carpenter and a very hard worker having built the home where he raised his family. A smart and talented man, John enjoyed playing the guitar and was in a polka band when he was a young man. He loved his family and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his children, James (Carol) Zaranec, Steven Zaranec, Timothy (Mary) Zaranec, John (Robin) Zaranec and Susan (James) Kummerlen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his brother, Charles Zaranec.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma (Hulbert) Zaranec and two brothers, Edward and William Zaranec.
Friends may call Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
