John M. Parret

John M. Parret, 95, of Springfield, died on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born February 6, 1926, in Farmer City, the son of William Ross and Mary Ethyl Firestone Parret. He married Norma “Jean” Dodd April 21, 1950 and she preceded him in death December 29, 2010.

He is also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ross Franklin Parret.

He is survived by several cousins.

Mr. Parret was a proud U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII, serving in North Africa.

He was a member of Westside Christian Church.

He worked in the inspection department at Sangamo Electric for thirty-five years; retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company after twelve years of service working in Security, and served as a Red Coat volunteer at Memorial Medical Center.

Memorial Gathering:  10 -11:30 am, Friday, August 20, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield

Memorial Service:  11:30 am, Friday, August 20, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Chaplain Dave Harmon officiating.   Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Christian Church or Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
