John G. Armetta

John G. Armetta, 80, of Chicago, passed away November 24, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Mika) for 56 years; devoted father of Vicki (Mark) and Steve (Carrie); cherished grandfather of Katie, Madeline, Casey, and Juliana; loving uncle of Pamela (Kurt), Patricia, Earl and Debra; proud great-uncle of Haley and Holly. John was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Caroline, and his sister Joan.
Following graduation from Lakeview High School in June, 1959, where he was president of his senior class, he attended DePaul University. He was active in the Alpha Chi Fraternity and various university organizations. His career was spent in retailing and later, in real estate management. John lived a full and wonderful life. He loved Chicago and all the attractions the city offered. Family gatherings gave him the greatest joy, and his love of politics and history led to many spirited conversations. He loved all types of music- opera, classical, and in later years, bluegrass and country music. He was a great storyteller, as evidenced by a plaque the family created for his eightieth birthday with the first lines of 80 various stories he had passed down through the years.
