John F. Oyster

John F. Oyster, 79, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born in Mansfield on July 10, 1941 and was a lifelong resident. John was the son of the late John O. Oyster and Emma O. (Rockwell) Oyster. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Linette L. Neff and Betty J. Tabor; and one grandchild.
John served his country in the U.S. Army as a Recon. Scout for the 3rd Armored Division, stationed in Kirchgones, Germany. He went on to the steel industry where he spent 35 years and retired from the AK Steel Mansfield Plant. John was an avid outdoorsman and would spend as much time in the woods as possible.
John is survived by his wife, Linda K. (Griffin) Oyster; son, John W. Oyster of Tiffin; three daughters, Lynda S. Shaffer of Mansfield, Amy J. Rhinehart of Mansfield, and Lynette M. Snipes of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren, Ramon A. Roman, John C. Oyster, Ami A. Oyster, Jeffery D. Rhinehart, Ian Q. Rhinehart, Chelsea J. McQuillen, Eden M. Scarborough, Robert L. Scarborough, Jayden J. Oyster, Kylee K. Oyster and Tristen T. Oyster; 17 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held for the family. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
