John E. White, 88, of Central City, died at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 7, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janet L. White.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Welden.

John was born on April 26th, 1936, at their home on their family farm in Linn County, to Perry and Hazel White. He married Janet L. Hatch on June 3, 1956, at the Jordans Grove Baptist Church, in Central City. After graduating high school, John went to Barber College in Cedar Rapids, after graduating he went into business with William Jackson, at Jackson Barber Shop in Marion. John was a barber there for 50 years before retiring.

John was a member of the Jordans Grove Baptist Church

John and his wife shared a love that was like no other, they took great care of each of other. They enjoyed their daily walks together on the trail near their home, where friends would sometimes join them. John spent a lot of time gardening where he loved his many flower beds. He also enjoyed fishing and talking with friends or any company that would stop by. He loved family dinners and always talked about food, John was a good cook and baker.
