John Edward Lancaster Sr. passed away on Sept. 25, 2022 surrounded by his beloved family. John was born in Darlington, Wis., to Harlow and Martha (Wenger) Lancaster on Nov. 28, 1932. John left his hometown and served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years. He had a distinguished career in which he served on Air Force Two, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Following his years of service, John worked as a marketing manager
at Rockwell Collins,
retiring in 1989. After his retirement, John led an active life during which he enjoyed fishing trips, being a master chef in the kitchen, and traveling to all 50 states with his beloved wife Lucy.
Together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage during which they were blessed with four children, John Jr. (Katie), Marion, Iowa, Susan, Marion, Iowa, James (Pat), Fargo, N.D., and Mark (Sara), Overland Park, Kan. John treasured his time
with his grandchildren, Alex (Mark) Schuerman, Michael (Bethany), Angela, Sean (Eileen), Hannah, Kirsten, Emily, Claire and Matthew, as well as his great-grandchildren, Reece, Isaac, Nicole, Cade, Mia and Katie. He was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings. John will have a small gathering of family and close friends to celebrate his life.
