John was also an avid poker player who played weekly with his friends as well as in numerous local poker tournaments.

Surviving is his wife, Renee E. (Walters) Johnson, whom he married November 4, 2013; daughter, Jackie (Brian) Proctor and three grandchildren, Daniel, Mark and Piper of New Philadelphia; daughter, Jill (Chris) Lipinski and two granddaughters, Annabelle and Alaina of New Philadelphia; two step-daughters, Debra Webber and her companion Jerry White of Dover, Tisha Thompson of Dover; grandson, Lucas Thompson and a great granddaughter, Cloey Thompson; two sisters, Rebecca “Becky” (Clyde) Pearch of Michigan, Linda (Tom) Carpenter of Kilgore and his dog, Zoey.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a sister, Barb Johnson and his pet dog, Bella.
