Joe Mac Middlebrook, 86, passed away February 27, 2021 in Granbury, Texas. He is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, and visitation with the family begins at 1:00PM prior to the service. Graveside burial will be at Granbury Cemetery immediately following.
Joe also known as “DadJoe” to his grandchildren was born in Terrell, Texas to Robert (Roy) and Eula Towery Middlebrook on August 30,1934. They lived in Royce City, TX before the family moved to Fort Worth when Joe was 6. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1952 where he played football and baseball. He earned his Business degree from Texas Wesleyan University in 1957 and soon after met his wife of 62 years, Judith Huston Middlebrook. He was devoted to his family, and in the early years spent most of his spare time coaching his son’s little league teams and volunteering to take care of the playing fields, and rarely missed the many middle and high school games that followed. He enjoyed deer hunting with his buddies and taught his sons the ethics of hunting. Joe was also a dedicated employee at General Dynamics / Lockheed Martin, retiring in 1997 after 37 years, where he made many friends and enjoyed attending the monthly retiree breakfast. After retirement, he moved to Granbury TX where he loved to host his grandchildren, play golf and be out in nature taking care of his cows and horses.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother James Middlebrook, and sister Rita Dorough. He is survived by his wife Judy; Sister-in-laws Martha Middlebrook and Charlene Huston; sons: Mark and his wife Shari, Mike and his wife Alison; daughter Michele Bideler and her husband Rick; grandsons: Colton Bideler and his wife Katie, and Blake Bideler; granddaughters: Alexandra Vermillion and her husband Austin, Kathryn Middlebrook, Megan Middlebrook, Molly Shurtz and her husband Steven; Great Granddaughters: Addison and Brooklyn Bideler, and Margaret Vermillion; and his nieces and nephews.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Bridgewater Memory Care, JDRF or Alzheimer’s Association.
