Joe D. Burgess

Joe D. Burgess, 81, of Springfield died on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 16, 1939 in Herrin, IL to Ernest F. and Grace. (Rhodes) Burgess. He married Carol Hill on August 18, 1961.

Joe is survived by his wife, Carol, of Springfield; one daughter, Kimberly Dawn (William T. Jr.) Fish of Gold Canyon, AZ; one son, Jeffery Scott (Melony) Burgess of Gainesville, GA; four grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Workman, Rachel (Corey) Monroe, Chandler Burgess, and Jamie Burgess; three great-grandchildren, Elana Workman, Brycen Workman, and Piper Monroe; and one brother, Dr. David L. (Susan) Burgess of Walnut Hill, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dr. Jack Burgess; one sister, Rosemary Glenn; and one twin-sister, Elizabeth Gale Castrale.

Joe was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Springfield.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
