Joanne Theodora Huedepohl
Williamsburg
Joanne Theodora Huedepohl was born December 6, 1932, near Homestead, Iowa. The daughter of Theodore and Anna (Wetjen) Moennich. She attended St. John Lutheran School through 8th grade and graduated from Marengo High School in 1950. Joanne was united in marriage to Harlan (Claus) Huedepohl on July 30, 1955, at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead.
Joanne was a homemaker, helped Claus on the farm and worked at Seven Villages Restaurant for more than 40 years as a server. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was the organist for numerous years. Joanne took significant joy in her family, even when the 3 boys were giving her gray hair, and her daughter fought to go outside with her father instead of learning about domestic duties.
Her garden was sizable and yielded a yearly mountain of potatoes. She enjoyed the post-church sermon quizzes, which the boys always flunked and earned Sunday dinner dishwashing chores. Her whole identity was being Harlan’s wife to which they can now return to the daily “Claus and Joanne entertainment hour”.
Joanne died on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Colonial Manor in Amana at the age of 92 years.
She is survived by her four children, Ann (Chris) Cromwell of Williamsburg, John Huedepohl of Tucson, AZ, Gary (Debbie Bushon) Huedepohl of Des Moines and Kevin Huedepohl of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Katy (Logan) Adkins of Olathe, KS, Ted Cromwell of Ankeny and Olivia Huedepohl of Tucson, AZ and a brother Ted (Carolyn) Moennich of Homestead.
She was preceded by her parents, and husband.
